When designing this interactive learning resource project, in order to make it more inclusive, we also focus primarily on two main groups of people: English Language Learners (ELL) and psingle parent who is working full-time and has 2 kids in elementary school.
Our topic is about traditional Chinese festivals, and we do not require learners to have a complete understanding of Chinese culture in order to learn our topic. Therefore, the languages that we used in our project are simple and easy to understand. It will be much better and more helpful for ELL as well. Regarding the interactive learning resources prepared by our group, we are reaching the learning through mostly online teaching. Students can access information using a number of Internet tools, such as WordPress, Google Doc. We clearly demonstrate the core ideas of our teaching content, including explanations of the definitions of different knowledge points. Then it is a way for learners to learn not only by reading, such as some short videos. As well as our post-class exercises and some quizzes are ways to enhance students’ interactive learning.
As for single parent who is working full-time and has 2 kids in elementary school. It is also possible to study our program. Because we do not need real-time classes. We can let learners choose the time and pace that suits them. All they need to do is go to our documentation and follow the step-by-step instructions we provide. The platform that we used to present our project is WordPress. This online platform allows people to use directly with a mobile phone. Also, all the social media tools in our project, including Google Forms, Google Docs, Discord, and Slido, can be used just in a mobile phone. Parents who have very busy schedule could learn our class whenever they needed without carrying their laptop everywhere. This is a great way to fit to their busy schedule.
